One of the most confronting and difficult issues that Christian teens and adults alike find troublesome in this modern era is the issue of relationships. The world seems to be changing at a rapid pace, what was seen as important in relationships of the past – good solid Christian values, seems to be diminishing at a rapid rate.Both teens and adults are confronted with a society that does not value certain personal characteristics or Christian values as they once did. In a world of materialism and superficiality it can be quite difficult to find:
1) a good Christian partner
2) conduct a beneficial and strong relationship in the eyes of God
So what can a Christian do to conduct a relationship that God approves?
Friendship is a cornerstone or at least a platform for any Christian relationship to flourish. Its one of the most important things in a relationship as it is a definite requirement for any Christian relationship.Before entering into a relationship with a fellow Christian, it’s best to ask yourself if you’d consider the person to be your friend.Do the ideals of truth and honesty pervade the friendship?Do you trust your prospective partner?Do you both have common Christian values?Do you both avoid gossiping and lying?These questions are important because they will highlight any possible difficulties in any possible future Christian relationship. Any relationship, for that matter, any relationship has to be built on a mutual respect and love for God.For the fellow Christian it’s important that you be able to ascertain whether your prospective possible future partner sees the world with the same eyes you do, and for that to happen, time is important. It’s not an easy task getting to know someone let alone dating in general, and it takes time.
Honoring the Christian Commandments
Whether dating is acceptable to you or not, understanding Christian boundaries and setting them when meeting possible partners is important in a Christian relationship. Understanding temptation and knowing best how to avoid being tempted is paramount.Constantly asking yourself, what would Jesus do? Or would God approve? Are certainly good questions that can keep you on the right track. One of the most difficult issues in a Christian Relationship is the issue of Sex.
The bible talks a lot about this issue and it’s important to understand what the Bible says. Sex is a wonderful and beautiful thing between married Christian couples.It is not meant however, in the eyes of God, to be an act that is meant to take place before a Christian wedding. Knowing this is easy, but abstaining and abstinence can be one of the most difficult things for Christians to carry out. A faith and a reliance on God are the fundamental ways Christians can avoid being tempted. Some people believe you have to be intimate to have a successful relationship, but sex need not be part of the equation for intimacy to occur.There are many ways one can be intimate with their Christian partner and sex is not the only way. It can be a tough to conduct a Christian relationship in these modern times, but a mutual love and respect for God is the bedrock for any Christian relationship, let alone, any friendship to flourish.
